Reports Show Drop in Delinquencies, Rise in Foreclosures

CoreLogic, Irvine, Calif., reported steady drops in mortgage delinquencies in August, while ATTOM, Irvine, Calif., said the end of foreclosure moratoria earlier this summer is pushing mortgage foreclosure actions higher.

July Foreclosure Activity Dips Slightly

ATTOM, Irvine, Calif., released its July U.S. Foreclosure Market Report, showing 12,483 U.S. properties with foreclosure filings, down 4 percent from a month ago but up 40 percent from a year ago.

Foreclosure Filings at Record Low

ATTOM, Irvine, Calif., reported a record-low 65,082 U.S. properties with foreclosure filings in the first six months of 2021, down 61 percent from a year ago and down 78 percent from two years ago.

ATTOM: May Foreclosure Starts Up 36% YOY

ATTOM, Irvine, Calif., reported 10,821 U.S. properties with foreclosure filings in May, down 8 percent from a month ago but up 23 percent from a year ago. Foreclosure starts, which represent the initial notice of default, grew by 36 percent year-over-year.

2nd Quarter ‘Zombie’ Foreclosures Up 21%

ATTOM Data Solutions, Irvine, Calif., released its second-quarter Vacant Property and Zombie Foreclosure Report, showing 1.4 million residential properties in the United States were vacant in the second quarter quarter, representing 1.4 percent of all homes.

ATTOM Reports Record-Low Foreclosures

ATTOM Data Solutions, Irvine, Calif., said 9,701 U.S. properties reported foreclosure filings in January, down by 11 percent from a month ago and down by 80 percent from a year ago.
