Foreclosure Filings Fall Monthly, Gain Annually, ATTOM Finds

ATTOM, Irvine, Calif., released its latest U.S. Foreclosure Market Report, finding that there were 40,355 U.S. properties with foreclosure filings in the month. That’s down 5% from a month ago, but up 14% from May 2025.

Auction.com, Irvine, Calif., released its Q1 Auction Market Dispatch, finding that completed foreclosure auctions reached 66% of their Q1 2020 level, and were up 10% from Q4 and up 33% year-over-year. That’s also a six-year high.

ATTOM: Vacancy, Zombie Foreclosure Rates Remain Low

ATTOM, Irvine, Calif., released its Q1 Vacant Property and Zombie Foreclosure Report, finding that 1.33% of residential properties are vacant. That’s essentially flat from both Q1 and Q4 2025.

ATTOM, Irvine, Calif., found that foreclosure filings — default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions — were reported on 367,460 U.S. properties in 2025, up 14% from 2024 and up 3% from 2023.
