How Climate Change Could Affect the Future of Real Estate Investing
Benzinga, Oct. 7, 2022–Eric McConnell
In 2009, the Federal Emergency Management Agency conducted a simulation to predict the damage a Category 5 hurricane could do if it made landfall in Tampa, Fla. Its predictions: 160 deaths, 30,000 people missing and another 300,000 homeless. That’s why many people feared the worst when Hurricane Ian began tracking toward Tampa Bay. Although it made landfall as a Category 4 in Naples, the damage wrought by its 6-12 foot storm surge and 150-plus mph winds was devastating.
