Dr. Frank Nothaft died on June 5 while running a 5K race in McLean, Va. The suspected cause was a heart arrhythmia. Nothaft gained a reputation for his diligence as a researcher. “Everyone knew that if he was presenting a paper, it was going to be good,” said Mike Fratantoni, Chief Economist at the Mortgage Bankers Association. “And if he was discussing a paper, he was going to find the problems.”
