MBA Thanks Princess Mackie Book Challenge Participants

(This story is part of an ongoing series highlighting MBA member company participants of the Princess Mackie Book Challenge.)

The Mortgage Bankers Association launched the Princess Mackie Book Challenge to promote financial education and develop new tools and resources to help children and their families learn more about homeownership in schools and community organizations. This week, MBA would like to highlight Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.

Wells Fargo employees were involved in a July event in New Orleans as part of the National Urban League’s community day. The employees participated in the Black Wealth Pavilion with the National Association of Real Estate Brokers in support of the critical work to advance Black homeownership.

The Wells Fargo participants gave away 300 copies of “Princess Mackie Buys a House” as part of the “Little Legacies Lounge.” The young visitors also had the opportunity to create an artistic rendering of their dream home, inspired by Princess Mackie.

Princess Mackie Buys a House, an illustrated children’s book by Twala Lockett, explains the path to homeownership to children and their families.

MBA has encouraged industry members to participate by purchasing copies of the book–either standard or branded with company logos–to distribute within their communities. The goal is to hit 10,000 books to be shared nationwide.

The effort stands at 6,400 books purchased through MBA and its members. To help us reach the goal or learn more information, click here or check out the video below.
