The Week Ahead, July 11, 2022: Five Things to Know
Good morning and happy Monday! Here’s what’s happening this week:
First, MBA Reports. MBA releases its monthly Mortgage Credit Availability Index this Tuesday, July 12, with MBA Associate Vice President of Economic and Industry Forecasting Joel Kan providing analysis and commentary.
MBA also releases its Weekly Applications Survey this Wednesday, July 13, with commentary and analysis from Kan.
Second, Other Economic Reports. It’s a fairly quiet week for economic reports—if you call the government’s latest take on inflation “quiet.” Here are this week’s other economic reports; those that MBA NewsLink will cover are in italics:
Wednesday: MBA Weekly Applications Survey; Consumer Price Index
Thursday: Initial Claims;
Friday: Advance Retail Sales; Empire State Manufacturing Survey; Imports and Exports;
Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization; Business Inventories; University of Michigan Consumer Survey (Preliminary).
Third, Congress. The House and Senate return from recess this week, with another hearing of the January 6 Committee slated for this Tuesday, July 12.
The House Financial Services Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions holds a hearing on Wednesday, July 13 on Better Together: Examining the Unified Proposed Rule to Modernize the Community Reinvestment Act. The hearing begins at 10:00 a.m. ET in 2128 Rayburn House Office Building and can be accessed online here.
