The Week Ahead, Feb. 7, 2022: Countdown to CREF22 and 3 Other Things to Know
Good morning and happy Monday! We are less than a week away the next big MBA event: CREF22, taking place Feb. 13-16 in San Diego. More about that and three other things to know this week:
First, CREF 22. The MBA Commercial Real Estate Finance/Multifamily Housing Convention & Expo is less than a week away, taking place Feb. 13-16 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego.

Second, MBA and Housing/Economic Reports. MBA stays busy with several reports this week, Wednesday Feb. 9, with its Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey (7:00 a.m. ET); with MBA Associate Vice President of Economic and Industry Forecasting Joel Kan providing analysis and commentary.
On Thursday, Feb. 10, MBA releases its quarterly National Delinquency Report (10:00 a.m.). MBA NewsLink will produce a special late morning issue on Thursday with the NDS results, along with commentary and analysis from MBA Vice President of Industry Analysis Marina Walsh, CMB.
The NDS, produced by MBA since 1953, covers 39 million loans on one- to four- unit residential properties. Loans surveyed are reported by more than 100 servicers, including independent mortgage companies and depositories such as large banks, community banks and credit unions.

Third, Congress. The House and Senate are in session this week; the Senate Banking Committee and the House Financial Services Committee each hold hearings of interest this week.
On Tuesday, Feb. 8, the House Financial Services Committee holds a virtual hearing on Digital Assets and the Future of Finance: The President’s Working Group on Financial Markets’ Report on Stablecoins. The hearing begins at 10:00 a.m. ET and can be accessed here.
On Wednesday, Feb. 9, the Senate Banking Committee holds a hearing on The Role that Community Development Financial Institutions and Minority Depository Institutions Serve in Supporting Communities. The hearing begins at 2:30 p.m. in Dirksen Senate Building room 538 and can be accessed online here.
