MBA Opens Doors Foundation Surpasses 7,000 Families Helped with $10.3 Million in Grants During 10-Year Anniversary

The MBA Opens Doors Foundation announced it has now provided more than $10.3 million in rental and mortgage payment grants to more than 7,000 families.

This month, as part of its 10-year anniversary, the foundation issued 278 grants totaling more than $471,000 – the highest number of grants and the most funds ever distributed in a single month in Opens Doors’ history.

“Reaching the 10-year anniversary of Opens Doors is an exciting milestone, and I am thrilled by how the real estate finance industry has engaged even more in helping vulnerable families with critically ill or injured children stay in their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Debra W. Still, CMB, President and CEO of Pulte Financial Services and MBA Opens Doors Foundation Chair. “While vaccines are helping the country recover, too many families with unexpected medical bills continue to face financial hardships. Opens Doors is a beacon of hope for those needing help making their house payments.”

Opens Doors recently stepped up its efforts to help families dealing with the economic impact of the pandemic by launching the Opens Doors Pandemic Relief Program. The program has already helped more than 2,500 families by providing additional mortgage and rental grants.

In addition to the Pandemic Relief Program, the foundation added three new hospitals to its network: The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis in Tulsa, Okla.; UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco; and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

“For all the challenges the pandemic continues to present, it’s heartwarming to know that the mortgage industry stands ready to help,” said Deborah Dubois, President of the MBA Opens Doors Foundation. “We’ve made an extraordinary impact these past ten years and I look forward to doubling that impact over the next decade.”

Families from 49 states, the District of Columbia and Guam have received housing assistance from Opens Doors since 2011. Grants up to $2,500 are made monthly to qualified families.
