Good morning! With the Memorial Day holiday a now-distant memory, summer is already around the corner.
But for now in Washington, it’s business as usual—at least as “usual” things can be in the pandemic era. Congress is in town, and the Mortgage Bankers Association is busy.

MBA releases its weekly Forbearance & Call Volume Survey today. The survey has shown drops in loans in forbearance for 13 consecutive weeks, and odds are favorable that today’s report make it 14? The report comes out at 4:00 p.m. ET.
MBA also releases its Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey this Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. ET.
Other reports of interest this week: JOLTS (Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey), Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. ET; Consumer Price Index (Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ET); Initial Claims (Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ET); and the University of Michigan Consumer Surveys (Friday, 10:00 a.m. ET).
On Capitol Hill this week, a couple of committee hearings of interest. The Senate Banking Committee holds a hearing on Wednesday, June 9 on “Building A Stronger Financial System: Opportunities of a Central Bank Digital Currency.” The remote hearing begins at 2:30 p.m. ET and can be accessed online here.
On the other side of the Capitol, the House Financial Services Committee holds a hearing on Wednesday, June 9 on “Universal Vouchers: Ending Homelessness and Expanding Economic Opportunity in America.” The remote hearing begins at noon ET and can be accessed online here.
