MBA Education Path to Diversity Scholar Profile: Sammy Ramirez

MBA NEWSLINK: Tell us about yourself.
SAMMY RAMIREZ: My name is Sammy Ramirez and I am a Loss Analyst with Colonial Savings F.A., in Fort Worth, Texas. In the nine and a half years I’ve spent in the mortgage industry, I’ve primarily focused in Quality Assurance, Foreclosure, Foreclosure Claims, and now Loss Analysis. If I could sum up my current responsibilities, I bring optics and understanding to the losses we are taking and foster solutions to avoid them.
In addition, I am a part of the Leadership Development Program where I am working to obtain some of the designations the MBA offers through their coursework such as RCMS and AMP. In my free time, I enjoy all things dog-, food-, family-, fitness- and nature-related.
NEWSLINK: How did you learn about the MBA Path to Diversity Program?
RAMIREZ: I learned about the Path to Diversity program through my involvement in the Colonial Leadership Development Program.
NEWSLINK: What inspired you to become more involved? Did a co-worker/supervisor/mentor encourage your participation?
RAMIREZ: Personal growth–I love to learn and grow to pass that onto others. Mentor encouragement helped too!
NEWSLINK: How has the Path to Diversity scholarship benefited you, personally and professionally?
RAMIREZ: Personally, the scholarship avoids having to use out of pocket funds to cover the cost of a designation program I am interested in. Professionally, the skills I will learn through the course will set me apart in the industry I’ve come to love and help me be a more effective leader.
NEWSLINK: What would you say to someone considering applying for a Path to Diversity scholarship?
RAMIREZ: I’d highly recommend! The application process is user friendly and provides an avenue to help you get that designation you’ve had your eyes on to advance your career or simply expand your knowledge base if you’re like me and love to learn!

The Path to Diversity Scholarship Program recognizes existing industry professionals who are seeking to advance their careers through continuing education. Recipients receive a voucher to cover course registration fees, up to a maximum of $2,000, for popular MBA Education courses and designation programs.
