MBA Launches Consumer Ad Campaign

The Mortgage Bankers Association launched a digital advertising campaign designed to help consumers facing financial challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and show how the mortgage industry is helping consumers through the coronavirus pandemic.

The ads, which run in Politico (including several of their most read newsletters), USA Today and the Washington Post, link to www.mba.org/consumerinfo, a newly created webpage that provides consumers with helpful information about forbearance, including questions that borrowers should ask their loan servicer, and links to additional resources from federal agencies, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Housing Administration, as well as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

The page also warns consumers to be careful of coronavirus scams.

“Be on the lookout for scams and scammers looking to take advantage of consumers affected by the coronavirus,” the MBA page says. “You might receive fraudulent calls, emails, text messages or other ‘offers’ to help you reduce or stop your mortgage payments. Make sure you are working directly with your mortgage servicer.”
