MBA Appoints Lugat MAA Chair for 2017-2018
The Mortgage Bankers Association announced that Gene Lugat, Executive Vice President of Eastern Division and National Industry and Political Relations with PrimeLending Inc., Winchester, Va., has been appointed chairman of the Mortgage Action Alliance for the 2017-2018 election cycle.
Lugat will succeed Fowler Williams, CMB, who served as MAA Chairman for the 2015-2016 election cycle.
“MBA is grateful that Gene will be sacrificing his time and effort to help build on MAA’s already significant grassroots’ operation,” said Rodrigo Lopez, CMB, MBA Chairman and Executive Chairman of NorthMarq Capital, Omaha, Neb. “Gene’s success in the industry and deep leadership expertise will undoubtedly benefit him through this election cycle.”
Lugat joined PrimeLending as Senior Vice President and Regional Production Manager for the Mid-Atlantic Region in 2009. In October 2012, he was promoted to Executive Vice President of the Eastern Division/National Industry and Political Relations with responsibility for production for all 28 states east of the Mississippi. He is a past president of the Maryland Mortgage Bankers Association, and recently served on the MORPAC committee as a board member for the 2015-2016 election cycles. He is a graduate of Shepherd University and a member of its Athletic Hall of Fame.
