HUD Names Willie Fobbs Multifamily Office of Production Director
HUD Deputy Assistant Secretary Ethan Handelman announced Willie Fobbs joined HUD as Director of HUD’s Multifamily Office of Production.
Prior to joining HUD, Fobbs served as the Associate Director of Housing Production and Preservation at the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development as an advocate for affordable housing. In this capacity, he oversaw a range of operations and programs, including the administration of single-family and multifamily financing programs. He has collaborated with both public and private partners to establish and implement statewide housing policy and program design focused on creating and preserving affordable housing.
In addition, Fobbs was charged with overseeing and implementing a number of housing rehabilitation programs, providing oversight of the state’s Weatherization Assistance Program focused on providing energy-efficiency retrofits on low-income housing and overseeing the implementation of Virginia’s $120 million Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery grant.
Arbor Appoints Charles Marino as Managing Director of Servicing & Agency Asset Management
Arbor Realty Trust, Uniondale, N.Y., appointed Charles Marino Managing Director of Servicing & Agency Asset Management.
Marino is responsible for the oversight and management of Arbor’s daily servicing operations as well as the Agency Asset Management functions, which include Portfolio Management, Loan Surveillance and Risk Management. He also evaluates loan credit risk and portfolio performance for the company.
Previously, Marino spent 30 years at M&T Bank Corp., where he was Executive Vice President of Commercial Lending Services. His experience includes managing all aspects of CRE operations and services including financial and budget management, system conversion and automation/continuous improvement, construction loan monitoring, new loan originations, real estate tax escrow administration and strategic planning.
Matt Gardner Joins CBRE to Lead U.S. Advisory Life Sciences Practice
CBRE, Dallas, appointed life sciences executive Matt Gardner to lead the company’s U.S. Advisory Life Sciences practice.
Based in northern California, Gardner will lead CBRE’s practice with a focus on driving the Life Sciences growth strategy–including both occupier and investor leasing as well as sales–across both established and emerging Life Sciences markets.
Gardner has more than 30 years of technology and life sciences experience. He served as CEO and Co-Founder for Innovation Counsellors, a management consulting organization focused on membership and ecosystem development for area life sciences and technology labs, councils, and advocacy organizations. As part of this role, he was the founding executive for the California Biomanufacturing Center. He also served as CEO of life science cluster organizations BayBio and MarylandBio.
Berkadia Expands Investment Sales Footprint, Adding Northern New Jersey Team
Berkadia added a new investment sales team in Morristown, N.J., bringing on board Senior Managing Director Nat Gambuzza, Senior Directors Spencer Beriont and Trevor Fiebel, Director Tim Blashford, Senior Transaction Manager Brian Antognini and Senior Financial Analyst Mike O’Reilly.
The team will establish a new investment sales office for the firm and will report to EVP and Co-Head of Investment Sales Keith Misner. The team joined Berkadia from CBRE, where they worked with a diverse client base–private investors, partnerships, lenders and institutions of varying net worth–to provide strategic insight and advice on complex transactions, including portfolio sales, distressed property sales, note sales and 1031 tax exchange transactions.
