CBRE Appoints Marshall Global Chief Client Officer
CBRE Group, Los Angles, appointed Scott Marshall Global Chief Client Officer.
In this new position, Marshall will partner with CBRE leadership teams across its three business segments–Advisory Services, Global Workplace Solutions and Real Estate Investments.
Marshall has held numerous executive leadership positions since joining CBRE in 2011, including Americas Head of Industrial and Logistics and Americas President of Investor Leasing. Most recently, he served as President and Chief Development Officer at Hana, where he helped roll out CBRE’s flexible space offering that is designed to meet the needs of both property owners and enterprise-level and high-growth occupiers.
1st Service Solutions Hires Berkshire
1st Service Solutions, Dallas, hired Ryan Berkshire. With nearly 15 years in the CMBS business, including underwriting for servicers and B-piece bonds, Berkshire is bringing a highly valued perspective to the company’s advocacy efforts as that of an insider from the CMBS servicers side.
“Because Ryan has spent so many years underwriting assumptions for the servicers, we are gaining tremendous inside knowledge and expertise,” said 1st Service Solutions Founder and President Ann Hambly.
Prior to joining 1st Service Solutions, Berkshire was a Senior Analyst for KLM Realty Advisors LLC, where he served as a third-party underwriter for CMBS servicers. During his 14 years working with KLM, he underwrote more than 500 loans and B-piece investments.
Akerman Expands Real Estate Finance Team with Garavaglia, Obeidin in Atlanta
Law firm Akerman LLP hired Anne Marie Garavaglia and Kinan Obeidin in its Real Estate Finance Practice in Atlanta.
Garavaglia and Obeidin join Akerman from Nelson Mullins LLP, where they led practices representing institutional lenders, REITs, and equity partners in the negotiation and closing of complex structured finance transactions.
Garavaglia has nearly 25 years of experience in commercial real estate finance and capital markets as both an in-house attorney for Fortune 50 corporations and as a partner in Am Law 100 ranked law firms. She focuses her practice on real estate capital markets, securitizations, financial services, structured and commercial finance, loan portfolio management/servicing, loan originations and financial work-outs and restructuring. She represents traditional institutional lenders, private equity funds and non-traditional lenders in a variety of transactions.
Garavaglia also provides interim general counsel services and has served as interim general real estate counsel for a Los Angeles-based crowdfunding and REIT client.
Obeidin focuses his practice on real estate finance, real estate capital markets, structured finance and financial services. He represents banks, life insurance companies, REITs, debt funds and other traditional and non-traditional lenders in the origination of commercial mortgage loans and a variety of secondary market transactions. He has extensive experience in originating CMBS, balance sheet, life company and bridge loans and he serves as loan seller’s counsel for CMBS, SASB and CRE-CLO securitizations. He advises buyers and sellers on warehouse lending facilities and master repurchase and participation arrangements.
