Leaycraft Rejoins TIAA Global Real Estate

Tim Leaycraft rejoined TIAA Global Real Estate as national Head of Underwriting / Credit Training, responsible for overseeing underwriting for all new debt and equity investments as well as staff underwriting and credit training.

Leaycraft spent 25 years with TIAA in loan origination and capital markets roles prior to 2008. Most recently he was the commercial mortgage-backed securities manager in the NAIC’s Structured Securities Group, where he oversaw credit modeling of insurer-held CMBS portfolios used to determine their risk-based capital requirements. 

Wells Fargo Commercial Real Estate Hires Miller
Wells Fargo Commercial Real Estate hired Jeff Miller to manage the Hospitality Finance Group’s west coast origination offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Miller joins Wells Fargo from Atrium Holding Co., where he was a senior vice president responsible for acquisitions, investment analysis and business development. Prior to that, he spent seven years with Marriott International, his most recent position as a vice president in the hotel development group where he was responsible for corporate development of hotels in the western United States.

Berkadia Grows Hotel Platform by Adding Three Executives
Berkadia, New York, added three senior hospitality executives to its Hotels & Hospitality Group: Managing Directors John DePaul, David Weymer and Mark Morris.

In April 2015, Andrew Coleman was named senior managing director and head of the newly formed Hotels & Hospitality Group. He joined Berkadia from Walker & Dunlop with over 25 years of hospitality lending experience. 

DePaul will be responsible for the capital markets and asset management and advisory functions of the platform. Based in Ambler, Pa., his primary focus will be to source equity for Berkadia’s clients and oversee the operations of the group under the direction of Coleman.

In his 35 years of CRE experience, DePaul has advised, acquired or managed assets in excess aggregate value of $5 billion. Most recently, he served as executive vice president of strategic advisory and asset management with Jones Lang LaSalle’s Hotels & Hospitality Group in New York City.

Weymer and Morris will be responsible for the investment sales function of the platform, based in Washington, D.C. Weymer brings 30 years of hospitality, commercial real estate and legal experience to Berkadia. He joins from Lantern Realty Advisors, where he represented clients in an advisory and legal capacity on multiple transactions aggregating over $1 billion from 2012-2015. Previously, he held senior principal positions at Noble Investments and Thayer Lodging Group.

Morris also has 30 years of industry experience holding senior roles in several prominent firms, most recently serving as senior vice president at Hunter Hotel Advisors. He brings to Berkadia a team of investment sales professionals, which will include John Testerman and Matt Bailly. Morris has structured and completed hotel sales transactions totaling more than $3.5 billion in North America, with a focus in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Berkadia is among the largest primary, master and special servicers in the industry. Loans under servicing exceed $240 billion and combined finance and sales volume surpassed $28 billion in 2015.
