Astrid Vermeer Joins MBA as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
The Mortgage Bankers Association announced that Astrid Vermeer joined the association as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer. Vermeer will oversee MBA’s managerial accounting and financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
“Astrid is an accomplished leader who comes to MBA with vast experience and an exceptional track record of providing executive-level leadership and financial management at top organizations,” said MBA’s President and CEO Bob Broeksmit, CMB. “I welcome her to the MBA family and am confident she will fit right in with the senior leadership team, staff, and our member leaders, overseeing our financial operations and implementing long-term investment strategies that will further strengthen the association.”
Vermeer has more than 20 years of financial leadership experience at acclaimed organizations in the fields of international development and education. She arrives at MBA after serving as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for the Perkins School for the Blind, where she managed a $100 million operating budget and was the lead executive for several operations, including legal, finance, accounting, and investments.
Before joining the Perkins School for the Blind, Vermeer served as CFO for the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), where she was responsible for all aspects of financial management and accounting for a $70 million budget across 30 countries. Prior to that she served as CFO of the International Services for the American Red Cross from 2015-2017 and was in finance roles at the World Wildlife Fund from 2002-2014.
Vermeer is a member of numerous boards of directors, including the Collaborative Labeling and Appliance Standards Program Nonprofit (CLASP NGO), Consumer Reports, and the Climate Advisers Trust (CAT).
Vermeer holds an MBA in Finance and General Management from the Louvain School of Management in Belgium, and a BS in Business Economics from the University of Suriname
