Mods Keep FHA Ahead of VA in New Ginnie MBS

Lenders issued $64.60 billion of Ginnie single-family MBS last month, a 5.1% drop from September. That’s still a historically large number, better than any month in the first half of 2020, and year-to-date issuance was up 16.3%. The figures are based on loan-level MBS disclosures that round loan amounts, and they exclude securities backed by FHA reverse mortgages.
