MBA Requests Six-Month Extension of CFPB’s QM Patch

The Mortgage Bankers Association wants to add six more months to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s latest GSE patch proposal. In a letter sent to the Bureau on August 10, the MBA recommended extending the sunset provision to “ensure the continued availability of sustainable, affordable mortgage credit” and eliminate any potential gaps in QM coverage.
