On Tuesday, the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee held the first of what is expected to be a series of oversight hearings on housing policy this year. And on Thursday, MBA submitted feedback to FHA in response to ML 2021-05, which extends the foreclosure and eviction moratorium and expands the use of FHA’s COVID-19 Loss Mitigation options.

On Wednesday, the Senate confirmed Marcia Fudge on a bipartisan basis to be the first woman to lead HUD in more than 40 years (and the second Black woman confirmed as Secretary).

On Monday, the Federal Housing Finance Agency authorized Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to release $1.09 billion in affordable housing allocations, more than double last year’s disbursement. And the Senate moved into floor debate and toward likely passage of its version of the COVID-19-related American Rescue Plan (H.R. 1319).
