In addition, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae announced a new certification requirement associated with submission of the Quarterly Mortgage Bankers’ Financial Reporting Form; and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell testified before the House Financial Services and Senate Banking Committees on current monetary policy and the state of the economy.

MBA Mortgage Action Alliance Issues ‘Call to Action’ on G-Fees Bill

The Mortgage Bankers Association’s grassroots advocacy arm, the Mortgage Action Alliance, issued a “Call to Action” yesterday urging its members to contact their House representative in support of a bill that would prohibit Congress from using Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guarantee fees as a source of funding for non-housing related spending.

On Thursday Congress passed, and the president signed into law, another short-term continuing resolution to fund the government until December 20. On Tuesday, the Federal Housing Finance Agency announced plans to repropose the agency’s rule on capital requirements for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in 2020. And this Sunday, November 24, the mortgage loan originator temporary authority law will go into effect.
