MBA Sends Letter to Senate Banking Committee in Support of Matt Jones for FHA Commissioner
The Mortgage Bankers Association sent a letter to Senate Banking Committee officials in strong support of President Donald Trump’s nomination of Matt Jones to be assistant secretary and Federal Housing Administration commissioner at the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
“Mr. Jones brings an impressive combination of firsthand mortgage industry experience, deep knowledge of government housing finance, and a strong understanding of how FHA programs can better serve homebuyers, renters and lenders,” the letter stated. “His public service working as a key staffer for both the Senate Banking and Finance Committees, coupled with his previous leadership of MBA’s government housing finance portfolio and current role overseeing FHA’s single-family operations, provide him with valuable perspective on the opportunities and challenges facing this important agency.”
MBA urges the committee to report the nomination favorably and quickly and for the full Senate to then confirm him as soon as possible.
