Fed to Propose Capital Changes for Banks, Mortgages

The Federal Reserve will soon propose two rules aimed at increasing mortgage lending and servicing by banks. Michelle Bowman, vice chair for supervision at the Fed, provided a preview of the proposals Monday.
“I see a path forward that incorporates both renewed bank participation in the mortgage market and a safe and sound banking system,” she said.
MBA President and CEO Robert Broeksmit, CMB, has issued a statement about the proposal.
