MISMO “Mortgage Ready” Workshop in Louisville, June 1

MISMO, the real estate finance industry’s standards organization, announced a new interactive workshop titled, “Mortgage Ready: Exploring How MISMO Standards Could Transform Financial Guidance into Homeownership.” The workshop, sponsored by VantageScore and nCino, will be held during the MISMO Spring Summit in Louisville, Ky., on June 1.

The workshop builds on the foundation established by MISMO’s Housing Counseling Dataset Development Work Group and explores opportunities for industry collaboration to define standardized Pre-Application data frameworks. It will convene mortgage lenders, fintech firms focused on homebuyer readiness, credit bureaus, technology providers, housing counseling organizations, and representatives from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to advance the development of consistent, interoperable data standards.

“Today’s homebuyer journey doesn’t begin with a loan application, it begins with preparation,” said MISMO President, Brian Vieaux, CMB. “If we can align around data standards at the front of that journey, we can reduce costs, improve outcomes, and make ‘Mortgage Ready’ more than a concept – we can make it measurable and scalable across the housing finance ecosystem.”

As prospective homebuyers, particularly first-time buyers, begin their journeys earlier and increasingly rely on digital financial tools and housing counselors, the mortgage industry has an opportunity to develop standardized, interoperable data frameworks that connect early financial preparation to the mortgage process and beyond.

The initiative is gaining attention from organizations studying the changing behavior of younger homebuyers. According to the 2026 NextGen Homebuyer Report, Gen Z and Millennial consumers are actively managing their finances, saving, budgeting, and monitoring credit well before engaging with a housing professional.
