MBA Presents Chioma Kalu with David H. Stevens Real Estate Legacy Scholarship Award
LAS VEGAS–The Mortgage Bankers Association today announced at its 2025 Annual Convention and Expo that Chioma Kalu has been recognized as the David H. Stevens Real Estate Legacy Scholarship award winner. The award recognizes students from MBA’s Commercial Real Estate Finance (CREF) Fellowship Program and HomeFree-USA’s Center for Financial Advancement (CFA®️) Program who have shown career aspirations in the real estate finance industry.
“Chioma’s outstanding academic record, work experience, and her phenomenal leadership qualities make her the perfect recipient for the David H. Stevens Real Estate Legacy Scholarship Award,” said Christine Chandler, 2026 MBA Chair and Executive Vice President, M&T Realty Capital. “I am excited to see the great things Chioma will accomplish as she progresses in her real estate finance career.”
Kalu is a spring 2025 graduate and first-year graduate student at Alabama State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Accountancy. An active campus leader, Chioma serves as President of Delta Mu Delta (International Honor Society in Business Administration), Vice President of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), and is a member of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Student Government Association (SGA).
MBA’s award recognizes the life and achievements of David (Dave) H. Stevens, CMB, a former MBA President and CEO. In honor of Stevens, the David H. Stevens Real Estate Legacy Scholarship was established to enshrine his legacy and to foster the development of emerging leaders in the real estate finance industry.
The award is recognized annually in conjunction with MBA’s Annual Convention and Expo in October and at MBA’s Commercial/Multifamily Finance Convention and Expo in February.
