MBA Education Honors WyHy Federal Credit Union’s Brittney Wagner-Tapia with Willis Bryant Award
LAS VEGAS–MBA Education, the award-winning education division of the Mortgage Bankers Association, honored WyHy Federal Credit Union’s Brittney Wagner-Tapia, Mortgage Loan Officer, with its 2025 Willis Bryant Award here at the 2025 Annual Convention and Expo.

The Willis Bryant Award recognizes outstanding academic achievement in the three courses of MBA Education’s School of Mortgage Banking (SOMB) and is awarded annually to a top student graduate of SOMB III. To qualify, a student must achieve a grade of “excellent” on all SOMB exams and demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities in both the classroom and when interacting with other students.
“MBA Education is proud to recognize Brittney Wagner-Tapia with this year’s Willis Bryant Award. Her outstanding performance in the School of Mortgage Banking program, coupled with the vision and initiative she demonstrated in building a mortgage department from the ground up, exemplifies the leadership this award is meant to celebrate,” said David Upbin, MBA’s Vice President of Education and Strategy. “MBA is proud to celebrate our credit union members, and we’re thrilled this year’s Willis Bryant Award highlights their leadership.”
Wagner-Tapia joined WyHy Federal Credit Union in 2018, beginning in consumer lending before moving into mortgages. She oversees loan deliveries and develops products with the goal of combining personalized solutions that deeply reflect each member’s unique needs while also addressing the broader needs of the community. Wagner-Tapia navigates her career with the goal of expanding credit unions’ market share in mortgage lending and showcasing the power of helping others. She single-handedly grew WyHy’s small portfolio of mortgage programs into a full suite of secondary market programs and positioned WyHy as a full-service mortgage provider supporting loans in 41 states. Wagner-Tapia completed the School of Mortgage Banking in March 2025.
The award was named after Willis R. Bryant, following his death in 1965. Bryant, a mortgage banking pioneer of the 1950s, was a former lecturer for SOMB who authored Mortgage Lending Fundamentals and Practices, a former SOMB textbook.
