Redfin, Seattle, released a list of the hottest neighborhoods in 2025, with a select few in New York and the Midwest dominating the rankings.

The No. 1 hottest neighborhood is Prospect Heights/Clinton Hill, in Brooklyn, N.Y. The trendy spot saw a 105% spike in home sales from a year ago.

“Workers wanted to get out of the crowded city during the pandemic, so they bought or rented properties in upstate New York or elsewhere in the country,” said New York Redfin Premier Agent Ian Rubinstein. “Many companies now require workers to be in the office at least two to three days a week–so people are coming back. In my opinion, Brooklyn has become even more popular than Manhattan.”

Also representing New York are No. 4’s Fairport–a suburb of Rochester–and No. 6’s Great Kills, Staten Island.

No. 2 is Jenison, Mich., a bedroom community for Grand Rapids. Campton Hills and St. Charles, Ill., a near suburb of Elgin and a further western suburb of Chicago, is No. 3.

The one California representative on the list–Polk Gulch and Russian Hill in San Francisco–ranks No. 5.

Franklin, Wis. (a suburb of Milwaukee) comes in at No. 7, followed by Prairie Village and Mission Hills, Kan. (in the Kansas City metro area) at No. 8 and Lakeville, Minn. (an exurb of Minneapolis-Saint Paul) at No. 9.

“Midwest cities have risen in popularity because they’re more affordable than cities in other parts of the country, but many buyers are now widening their search to the suburbs after being priced out of popular urban areas,” said Redfin Chief Economist Daryl Fairweather. “These neighborhoods are generally a 15-20 minute drive to the downtown of a metro–a reasonable commute for workers–and have easy access to shopping, sought-after schools and recreational pursuits.”

Bowie, Md., a suburb of Washington, D.C., rounded out the top 10.

Homes are selling quicker than they did a year ago in all of these neighborhoods, and they tend to have a dearth of homes for sale.

Redfin determined its analysis by ranking U.S. zip codes in the 150 most populous metro areas by year-over-year growth in listing views on its site and the Redfin Compete Score–a measure of how difficult it is to secure a home. It noted zip codes may encompass more than one neighborhood, village or town, and it strove to use neighborhood names representative of the area covered.
