MISMO Publishes Mortgage Compliance Dataset with Support of CSBS, Regulators and Technology Providers

MISMO®, the real estate finance industry’s standards organization, published the MISMO Mortgage Compliance Dataset Version 2.0, marking its final approval after extensive review by a broad range of organizations and industry participants. This standard is now ready for implementers across the industry to begin building.

“MCD Version 2.0 gives regulators and lenders a modern, technology-aligned framework that improves data quality, supports risk-based supervision, and dramatically increases the efficiency of the exam process,” said MISMO President Brian Vieaux, CMB. “It’s a powerful example of what our industry can achieve when regulators, lenders and technology providers work together toward a common goal.”

The dataset, developed by the MISMO MCD Workgroup in partnership with the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS), represents a major step forward in modernizing and automating mortgage compliance examinations. By enabling regulators to leverage technology, and helping lenders identify and remediate issues before examinations, the MCD significantly reduces friction in the exam process and streamlines oversight across the system.

The MCD, which replaces the Loan Examination File (LEF), is now available on www.MISMO.org. Loan Origination System and Compliance Systems are encouraged to begin building the file, testing, and communicating with each other and their lender clients.

Maintained by the MISMO MCD Workgroup, sponsored by Asurity, the standard will continue to evolve in collaboration with industry stakeholders to remain timely, relevant, and impactful. Regulators, lenders, compliance vendors, LOS providers and other technology providers have all contributed their time and expertise to this effort.

To continue driving adoption, MISMO and CSBS will host a Mortgage Compliance Dataset three-hour workshop during the MISMO Winter Summit in Amelia Island, Florida. The workshop will be offered both in-person and virtually. Learn more about the Winter Summit and view the agenda here.
