MBA Opens Doors Foundation Announces Partnership with Nicklaus Children’s Hospital
The MBA Opens Doors Foundation announced a partnership with Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami. This partnership will allow the Foundation to grow its mission of providing mortgage and rental assistance to families with critically ill or injured children, ensuring parents and guardians can be by their child’s side during treatment without fear of losing their home.
As part of the alliance, Opens Doors works with social workers at Nicklaus Children’s to identify families with critically ill or injured children in need of mortgage or rental payment assistance as potential grant recipients. Nicklaus Children’s is now the 14th hospital partner with Opens Doors.
“During a time when families are struggling with rising medical costs and the stress of having a critically ill or injured child, it is gratifying to know we can make a difference for families needing housing assistance in South Florida,” said Debra W. Still, Vice Chairman, Pulte Financial Services and Chair of the MBA Opens Doors Board of Directors. “None of this would be possible without the consistent and generous support of our donors, the commitment of my fellow board members and the leadership of Opens Doors President, Deb Dubois.”
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, founded in 1950, is a 325-bed freestanding specialty pediatric hospital that serves nearly 70 percent of the Miami metropolitan area’s children, from birth through age 21. With 18,073 inpatient admissions last year and nearly 35 outpatient care locations delivering lifesaving services across Miami-Dade, Broward, Martin, and Palm Beach counties, the hospital stands as a leading destination for comprehensive pediatric care.
“We are honored that Nicklaus Children’s is joining the MBA Opens Doors Foundation’s network of partner hospitals,” said Matthew A. Love, President and CEO of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. “This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to supporting families during some of the most challenging times of their lives. By expanding this network, we can help ensure that more families with critically ill or injured children can focus on healing–without the added fear of losing their home–and that aligns deeply with our mission to care for children and strengthen families.”
MBA Opens Doors Foundation has provided almost $30 million in mortgage and rental payment assistance to nearly 20,000 families since its founding in 2011, making it a critical part of a family’s support structure while their child is in treatment. Grants of up to $2,000 are made monthly to families with a child in treatment at one of the Foundation’s network children’s hospitals.
