
RentCafe: D.C. Still Top City for Renter Interest

RentCafe, Santa Barbara, Calif., released its rental activity report, finding that the nation’s capital once again ranked No. 1 in February.
Washington, D.C., has held its position on the top of the list since October.
Cincinnati was No. 2 for February, climbing two spots. Chicago surged nine spots to claim the No. 3 rank.
Kansas City, Mo., was No. 4, also up two spots in the rankings. Rounding out the top 5 is Atlanta, which ranked second in January.
Completing the top 10 are Columbus, Ohio, Minneapolis, Overland Park, Kan., St. Paul, Minn., and Portland, Ore.
Five new cities made the list this go around, with San Jose, Calif., coming in the highest at No. 21. The Bronx, N.Y., saw a 57-spot jump, to 24.
Stockton, Calif., rose 55 spots to 28, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., rose four spots to 29 and Baltimore jumped one spot to round out the top 30.
Looking at the top 30 broken down by region, the Midwest and South each had 11 cities listed. But, looking at just the top 10, the Midwest dominated, with seven cities.
RentCafe bases its rankings on various metrics from data related to interactions on its website across the 150 largest cities by population in the contiguous U.S. with a relevant listing inventory sample.
