Gregory Page is Loan Servicing Compliance Analyst and MERS Specialist for the Loan Servicing Department at Synovus Bank and Mortgage.
–Tell us a little about yourself
I have been in the industry for 35 years. I started out as a loan processor with Bank Boston/Mortgage Corp of the South in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. Through the years I worked at a number of small mortgage companies and stayed over 10 years with New South Mortgage moving from loan processor to shipping.
I moved on to be a Project Manager/Home Preservation Manager and help set up the Home Preservation Department for Wells Fargo in Birmingham for 5 years. Unfortunately, this was eventually moved to another state. I then became the Assistant Call Center Manager for Citi Financial in the Loss Mitigation Department. When this company was moved to Florida I was called to be a Senior Loss Mitigation Specialist for Synovus. When the Servicing Department at Synovus required a Compliance Specialist I was more than happy to take over this role due to my many experiences in the industry and knowledge of the changes that had been made when the CFPB was formed and many rules, laws and regulations were implemented.
Being from Alabama my passion is watching Alabama Football. Roll Tide!! I also enjoy the Birmingham Stallions XFL team. Buck ‘EM. I enjoy going to the many beautiful lakes and rivers in Alabama to sit and fish. Luckily, I take food because my fishing skills are for fun and not to survive.
–How did you learn about the MBA Path to Diversity Program? Was the application process user-friendly?
I was wanting to further my knowledge in my current role and learn the compliance pieces of other departments and how it fit in with the Servicing side of the business. That is when I went to the MBA website and realized I may qualify for a scholarship. I reached out and completed the application and in no time I was on my way to obtaining my CMCP designation. The process was simple and easy and I was very excited for the opportunity MBA gave me.
–How has the Path to Diversity scholarship benefited you, personally and professionally? What have you been able to bring back to your company as a result of the Path to Diversity program?
The Path to Diversity Scholarship has benefited me in so many ways. I have always been a person who believes in sharing knowledge and with my MBA education this inspires confidence to those who reach out with questions. It has also given me a great deal of confidence knowing I have this knowledge thanks to this scholarship.
I would advise anyone, and encourage anyone, who is wanting to further their career and knowledge in not just their area of expertise, but in other areas, to apply for the Path to Diversity Scholarship. Having that Certificate framed on your desk with “MBA” on it adds to your worth to the company, your self worth and can open doors to other opportunities within your company.
–What would you say to someone considering applying for a Path to Diversity scholarship?
The mortgage business is not just a business. It gives a person an opportunity to have that place of their own to go to get away from the world. Many times I sit on my porch and look over my yard and think to myself, “this is my peace.” Luckily, everyone in the business has a responsibility to give those who want to own that dream the opportunity to do so and ensure they can afford it, ensure that we are there in times of need so they can keep it and ensure we do it the right way.
