DENVER–The Mortgage Bankers Association Political Action Committee (MORPAC) awarded Nanci L. Weissgold, Partner of Alston & Bird’s Financial Services Group, with the 2024 Schumacher-Bolduc Award. Weissgold was presented the award at MBA’s 2024 Annual Convention & Expo

“Nanci has been an avid MBA advocate for many years and is a proven champion at generating participation in MORPAC’s advocacy efforts,” said Owen Lee, Chief Executive Officer at Success Mortgage Partners and 2025 MBA Vice Chair. “Nanci’s extensive knowledge and experience working in regulatory policy has been instrumental in making the case for continued outreach to our members to help achieve access to policymakers through a growing MORPAC. It is with great joy that I present this award to her to recognize her outstanding achievements and dedication to the industry’s advocacy efforts.”

Weissgold will serve as MORPAC’s Chair for the upcoming 2025-26 political cycle.

In addition to being MORPAC Associate Vice Chair during the 2023-2024 election cycle, Weissgold has been a consistent MORPAC contributor for many years and has lent her expertise at numerous MBA conferences, including the Servicing Solutions Conference & Expo, the Legal Issues and Regulatory Compliance Conference, and the Compliance and Risk Management Conference. Her support for MORPAC’s peer-to-peer fundraising campaign strategy among the attendees of these conferences and within her personal network has proven invaluable in increasing participation among MBA’s associate membership.

Outside of MORPAC, Weissgold will soon co-chair MBA’s Legal Issues and Regulatory Compliance Committee, which identifies, studies, and evaluates key legal, regulatory, and quality assurance issues and trends related to the residential mortgage lending industry. Weissgold is co-partner at Alston & Bird, LLC and leads the consumer financial services team. In her role, Weissgold advises clients on federal and state issues related to mortgage lending, mortgage servicing, valuations, and more.

Prior to joining Alston & Bird, Weissgold spent 19 years in ascending roles at K&L Gates, before becoming partner of the mortgage banking and consumer credit practice group.
