NMLS Renewal Season Launches Nov. 1; Update Your NMLS Account Soon

The Mortgage Bankers Association reminds Mortgage Loan Originators that they should update their NMLS accounts if they have not already done so. This includes MLOs working at bank and non-banks.

NMLS enhancements rolled out in July included a new login process for NMLS users, including the ability to access multiple NMLS accounts using a single login. While this change improves NMLS users’ experience, they must take steps to update their NMLS login credentials and consolidate their accounts.

Users will be able to save time during renewals if they update their accounts before renewal season launches on Nov. 1.

Here is what NMLS users need to know:

Log in to NMLS as soon as possible to complete the new login process.

Set up account recovery details – The new login experience will require you to enter an account recovery email the next time you log in to NMLS, if you haven’t already done so. We recommend that you use a personal email address that you will always have access to, regardless of your employer. This is important because NMLS will use the email address to help you retrieve your username and reset your password.

The new login experience will also require you to verify your social security number and date of birth to ensure the information is correct. You only have to do this once.

NMLS users with multiple accounts:

Here is why you should log in to NMLS and consolidate your accounts:

Maintain one set of credentials to access NMLS instead of tracking and storing multiple usernames and passwords.

Save time by having one username and password for all system access needs.

Navigate NMLS more efficiently instead of having to log in and out to perform different tasks. NMLS users can visit the NMLS Enhancements page on the NMLS Resource Center or contact the NMLS Call Center at 1-855-665-7123 if they have questions.
