Andrey Kuchik

–Tell us about yourself
My name is Andrey Kuchik and I immigrated to the United States when I was six years old. I was the first person in my family to get a college degree and I never thought I would end up with a career in finance since my degree was in electronic technology but I ended up getting a job in the mortgage industry and I’ve never looked back.

–How did you learn about the MBA Path to Diversity Program?

I was very curious in expanding my knowledge in the mortgage industry and one of my managers had gotten his AMP designation and recommended it to me. I did a few preliminary courses and felt like the AMP courses would benefit me. While browsing the MBA website I came across a banner talking about the Path to Diversity Program and decided to apply.

–Did you find the application process to be user-friendly?

Yes, the application process was very user-friendly. I haven’t applied to any sort of scholarship in the past and even doing this for the first time I found the process to be easy and intuitive.

–How has the Path to Diversity scholarship benefited you; what were you able to bring back to your company?

I learned a lot about different parts of the mortgage industry that I wouldn’t have learned about otherwise. I was able to come back to my company with greater understanding about how my role affects everyone else in the mortgage space and why certain things that we do are so important.

–What would I say to someone considering applying for a Path to Diversity scholarship?

All I would say would be, Go for it! When I first applied I had my doubts and didn’t think I would be accepted but soon enough I got a letter that I was granted the scholarship. This scholarship made the AMP designation a reality for me and it could do the same for you!
