Dominic Iannitti, Founder and CEO of DocMagic, Torrance, Calif., passed away July 18 due to complications from pneumonia. He was 60.

A long-time innovator and leader in the mortgage industry, Iannitti founded DocMagic in 1987.

Iannitti was driven to streamline the mortgage process and eliminate the reliance on paper–he was credited with automating the loan document preparation, management and delivery processes; pioneering eVault and eSign capabilities; and introducing the first end-to-end eClosing platform, among other accomplishments.

“He fostered a dynamic company culture rooted in innovation, integrity, and collaboration. His legacy of leadership, trailblazing accomplishments and technological advancements will continue to inspire and guide DocMagic for years to come,” stated the company in a release.

Iannitti received numerous accolades and recognitions throughout his career. In June, MBA NewsLink named Iannitti as an MBA NewsLink 2024 Tech All-Star Award recipient for his contributions and accomplishments in the industry, presented at the MISMO Spring Summit in San Francisco.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dominic,” said David Coleman, President of MISMO. “He was an exceptional person and impacted our industry for the better through his innovative work at DocMagic. Our hearts are with his family, our industry colleagues and the employees at DocMagic during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed.”

Pat Theodora, Iannitti’s business partner of 37 years and DocMagic Chief Financial Officer, has been appointed the company’s President and CEO.

“The entire family at DocMagic is deeply saddened by Dominic’s passing,” said Theodora. “He was a true pioneer in our industry and a mentor to many. I am committed to honoring his legacy by continuing to drive innovation and deliver exceptional solutions to clients. This is what my friend and partner would have wanted, and I am laser-focused on implementing the company’s succession plan without any interruption to operations.”

Details about a memorial service are forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, Iannitti’s family has requested that donations be made to one of the following entities, “In memory of Dominic Iannitti”–the World Family Foundation (Worldfamilyfnd.org) and/or Lunada Bay Little League (Lunadabayll.com).
