Home Equity Issuance Reaches New High, WACs Diverge

Quarterly issuance of home-equity products reached the highest level in at least five years and likely since the Great Financial Crisis. While coupons on open-end product have shot up 46 basis points over the past year, coupons on closed-end second mortgages have retreated by more than a half percentage point — reflecting a frothy CES market.
