Dawn Hooper, AMP

Dawn Hooper, AMP, has been in the mortgage industry since 1998. She has held various positions in all channels of the mortgage process. She was instrumental in the induction of licensing in her home state of North Carolina and at a national level, working closely with lawmakers and the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System. Dawn was previously honored as the Virginia Mortgage Lenders Association Associate of the Year.

Dawn currently works in the insurance industry as Director of Strategic Growth with Evertree. She previously worked in the mortgage insurance industry as an account manager and is a member of the Class of 2017 MBA Future Leaders Program. She is currently working on her Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) through MBA.

–Tell us about yourself

Hailing from North Carolina, I’m a proud parent to four incredible young adults and a mix of furry friends. My life is a vibrant mix of work, community service, mentorship, and cherished moments with loved ones, sprinkled with adventures across the globe. With roots in psychology and political science from UNC Charlotte, my professional journey has been deeply intertwined with the mortgage sector, enriched by my engagement with the Mortgage Bankers Association.

–How did you learn about the MBA Path to Diversity Program? What inspired you to become more involved? Did a co-worker/supervisor/mentor encourage your participation?

My curiosity about the MBA’s Future Leaders Program opened the door to the Path to Diversity Program. A simple inquiry led to an encouraging nudge from the MBA team, setting me on a path of greater involvement and growth.

–Did you find the application process to be user-friendly?

Absolutely! The application was a breeze—intuitive and quick, it was a seamless step towards broadening my horizons in the mortgage industry.

— How has the Path to Diversity scholarship benefited you, personally and professionally? What have you been able to bring back to your company as a result of the Path to Diversity program?

The Path to Diversity scholarship has been a cornerstone of my career, propelling my education and leadership to new heights. It’s been a gateway to invaluable insights and connections that I’ve proudly brought back to my company, fostering a culture of leadership and collective progress.

The Path to Diversity Scholarship Program recognizes existing industry professionals who are seeking to advance their careers through continuing education. Recipients receive a voucher to cover course registration fees, up to a maximum of $2,000, for popular MBA Education courses and designation programs.
