RealPage, Richardson, Texas, released findings from its national survey of apartment residents, finding they prioritize technology, easy moves, rewards and flexibility.
Among other data, it found that 97% of renters said they would be likely to renew their lease if working with their property manager was as easy as working with Amazon.
Additionally, 97% would be more likely to choose an apartment that offered a service to simplify moving, and 93% would be interested in flexible rent payment schedules, such as biweekly, bimonthly or weekly.
Overall, 90% reported challenges moving into their current apartment, with the top issues including the coordination of lease and move-in documents with property managers, setting up payments and having too many tasks to manage.
“It’s a renter’s market, and they demand more from moving assistance, loyalty programs and payment options to enhance their living experience,” said Rob Franklin, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Resident Solutions at RealPage.
Renters are also putting a high priority on loyalty programs, with 96% belonging to at least one general program of the type, and most belonging to at least six.
Apartment loyalty programs are rare–with only 16% of respondents reporting being in a program right now. But, 98% said they should be offered, and 97% said they would be more likely to renew a lease if such a program existed.
