MBA Advocacy Month Wraps Up

Engaging in the political process is a critical component of MBA’s work on behalf of its members. During MBA Advocacy Month in September, MBA hosted various events including #MAAMonday and a MORPAC Speaker Series event with Congressman Bryan Steil, R-Wis.

MBA and 25 member organizations also participated in MORPAC Action Week September 18-22 and ran concurrent MORPAC company campaigns to activate eligible employees in the political process. And the Mortgage Action Alliance partnered with the National Voter Registration Day organization during its “Get Out the Vote” campaign on September 19 to help prepare advocates to vote in next fall’s local, state and federal elections.

These efforts recruited more than 500 individual MORPAC donors – 40% of them new ones – and helped raise approximately $150,000 in individual contributions. This boosted MORPAC’s calendar year total for the 2023-2024 election cycle to over $800,000. MORPAC ranks in the top 20 nationally among trade association PACs in terms of individual contributions and disbursements to candidates and has given roughly $1 million to candidates, party campaign committees and leadership PACs.

In addition, 27,355 real estate finance professionals joined or renewed their MAA membership during MBA Advocacy Month and 608 advocates took action on a recent MAA Call to Action, including the MBA-supported “Trigger Leads” bill.

Help us educate your elected officials. MBA’s National Advocacy Conference takes place March 19 and 20, 2024. Join us for an impressive speaker lineup including elected officials and informative policy briefings, followed by meetings on Capitol Hill.
