Vanguard University Names School of Business after New American Funding’s Patty Arvielo
Vanguard University, Costa Mesa, Calif., an Hispanic-Serving Institution announced naming of the Patty Arvielo School of Business and Management; it is the first business school in the U.S. to be named after a Latina.
The Arvielos have partnered with Vanguard’s vision in sponsoring the largest academic donation in the university’s 103-year history.
Establishment of the Patty Arvielo School of Business and Management comes as the business program celebrates its 50th anniversary. With degree programs in accounting, business administration, management and marketing theSchool of Business will officially launch in the 2024-2025 academic year and will serve undergraduate and graduate residential, distance and non-traditional students in business, communication, organizational psychology and people operations.
“To be the first Latina with a University Business School in her namesake is beyond an honor. I’m still in awe,” Arvielo said. “You never know what life has in store for you when you work hard on things you are passionate about. Thank you to the Vanguard University community and my friends and family that made this moment so special. I will never forget it.
Arvielo and her husband, Rick, have been active for many years with the Mortgage Bankers Association. Arvielo currently serves on the MBA Residential Board of Governors (RESBOG) and has served on numerous MBA committees and task forces. In 2022, New American Funding received an MBA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Residential Leadership Award.
JLL Capital Markets Adds Senior Director Reina Abboud
JLL Capital Markets hired Reina Abboud as a Senior Director with the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. She will focus on debt advisory in the Richmond and Virginia Tidewater markets.
Abboud joins JLL with 10 years of experience in real estate finance. Prior to that, she served as a Financial Analyst with Phillips Realty Capital. During her career, she has been involved in originating, structuring and executing more than $1.5B in transactions in all asset types, with a strong focus on market rate and affordable multi-housing business.
MMI Appoints Brian McKray Director of Product Development
Mobility Market Intelligence, Salt Lake City, Utah, hired Brian McKray as director of product development. He will guide creation of new system features and functionality to maintain alignment with the company’s vision and mission and ensure customer needs are considered at every stage of product development.
McKray comes to MMI from Celebrity Home Loans, where he served as Director of Marketing Optimization and focused on optimizing marketing platforms, products and technologies to improve loan originator adoption, utilization and user experience. Prior to Celebrity Home Loans, he was Director of Marketing with Castle & Cooke Mortgage LLC, and spent time as Manager of Marketing Systems and Support, as well as Senior Manager of Marketing at Academy Mortgage Corp.
Garris Horn Adds John Levonick as Senior Partner
Garris Horn, Dallas added John Levonick as Senior Partner. He will focus his practice on compliance and transactional matters for businesses in those sectors of the mortgage industry.
Levonick comes to Garris Horn having served most recently as the CEO and Co-Founder of a technology-enabled mortgage service firm delivering third-party review and due diligence services. Over the course of his 23-year career, he has worked within the consumer financial services industry in both executive and legal roles. He has worked in the FinTech and Blockchain practice groups at Am Law 100 law firms, held the role of Chief Legal and Compliance Officer at Accenture Mortgage Cadence and served in leadership roles with wholly owned subsidiaries of Wipro, Radian and Fiserv.
nxtCRE Adds Kat Downen to Sales Team
Kat Downen joined the Sales team at nxtCRE, Miami.
Downen previously worked in sales and marketing at a California mortgage company and at an architectural metals firm, and has been a public school teacher and digital marketer.
