Speaking at a recent Mortgage Bankers Association conference in San Diego, Duane Gilkison, head of Fannie’s loan quality compliance team, noted that originations spiked during the pandemic and, as a result, the number of loans with defects also increased. But the percentage of defects has remained largely unchanged.
