Freedom Mortgage, Radian Group Inc. Commit $1.1 Million to MBA Opens Doors Foundation

The MBA Opens Doors Foundation announced that Freedom Mortgage and Radian Group Inc. have each extended their four-year commitment of support to the MBA Opens Doors Foundation, cementing the Foundation’s alliance with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

Freedom Mortgage has committed an additional $600,000 over six years, and Radian has committed an additional $500,000 over five years.

“We are thankful to Freedom and Radian for their generous support that will allow us to advance the charitable work of the MBA Opens Doors Foundation,” said Debra W. Still, CMB, Vice Chairman of Pulte Financial Services and Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. “This multi-year commitment allows Opens Doors to plan for the needs of families with a child in treatment at CHOP and for families across the country.”

As part of the alliance CHOP, Open Doors works with CHOP social workers to identify families with critically ill or injured children in need of mortgage or rental payment assistance as potential grant recipients. Opens Doors made its first set of housing grants to CHOP in March 2020 and has since provided nearly $1 million in housing assistance to 660 CHOP families. The alliance was made possible by a financial commitment in 2019 of $800,000 over four years from Freedom Mortgage and Radian. CHOP represents one of Opens Doors’ largest network hospitals with 564 in-patient beds and more than 1.3 million outpatient visits a year.

“I am thrilled to continue our support of the Opens Doors Foundation and of families with sick children in treatment at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia,” said Stan Middleman, President and Chief Executive Officer at Freedom Mortgage. “Helping vulnerable families stay in their homes is not just the right thing to do, but it is part of the corporate culture of Freedom Mortgage, and the foundation on which we stand. I am proud to be able to help families during one of their most challenging times. Children are our greatest joy and families are our most valuable asset.”

“Radian is committed to protecting and ensuring the American dream of homeownership and is proud to continue our long-standing support of the MBA Opens Doors Foundation and of the Foundation’s alliance with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia,” said Rick Thornberry, Chief Executive Officer at Radian and Director, MBA Opens Doors Foundation Board of Directors. “The opportunity to help families in Philadelphia and across the country with critically ill or injured children struggling to make their housing payments is a testament to our investment in communities where we live and work, and we are thrilled to continue to make an incredible impact on families in need.”
