Mortgage Insurance Activity Declines in First Quarter

Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae securitized $123.40 billion of loans with government or private mortgage insurance during the first quarter of 2023, according to a new ranking and analysis by Inside Mortgage Finance. MI activity fell 20.6% in the first quarter on a sequential basis, a marginally smaller decline than the drop in total agency business.
