Here’s what else is happening this week:

First, MBA To Testify on Capitol Hill. MBA Vice-Chair Mark Jones, CEO and Co-Founder of Amerifirst Home Mortgage, testifies on behalf of MBA before the House VA Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity this Wednesday, May 18.

Jones will testify in support of H.R. 7735, the” Improving Access to the VA Home Loan Act,” which would direct VA to update its policies on home appraisals.

The hearing takes place at 10:00 a.m. ET in House Visitors Center Room 210 and can be accessed online here. MBA NewsLink will provide coverage.

Elsewhere on Capitol Hill this week, the Senate Banking Committee holds a nomination hearing on Thursday, May 19 to consider nominations of Michael Barr as Member and Vice Chairman for Supervision of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System; Jaime E. Lizárraga to be a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission; and Mark Toshiro Uyeda to be a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The hearing begins at 10:00 a.m. ET in Dirksen Senate Office Building room 538 and can be accessed online here.

The House Financial Services Committee has no hearings scheduled this week; however, on Wednesday, May 25, Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development and Insurance will hold a hearing on “Reauthorization and Reform of the National Flood Insurance Program.” The hearing will begin at noon ET in 2128 Rayburn House Office Building and can be accessed online here.

Second, MBA Reports. MBA has a busy week, starting this afternoon (Monday, May 16) with its monthly Loan Monitoring Survey (formerly the MBA Forbearance & Call Volume Survey). That report comes out at 4:00 p.m. ET with commentary and analysis from MBA Vice President of Industry Analysis Marina Walsh, CMB; MBA NewsLink will provide coverage in its Tuesday, May 17 edition.

On Wednesday, May 18, the MBA Weekly Applications Survey comes out (7:00 a.m. ET) with commentary and analysis from MBA Associate Vice President of Economic and Industry Forecasting Joel Kan.

And on Thursday, May 19, the monthly MBA Builder Applications Survey is released (8:00 a.m. ET), with commentary and analysis from Kan.
