The ADP National Employment Report said by company size, small businesses (1-49 employees) added 90,000 jobs; medium-sized businesses (50-499 employees) added 188,000 jobs; and large businesses added 177,000 jobs.

By sector, goods-producing businesses added 79,000 jobs and service-providing businesses added 377,000 jobs.

“Job growth was broad-based across sectors in March, contributing to the nearly 1.5 million jobs added for the first quarter in 2022,” said ADP Chief Economist Nela Richardson. “Businesses are hiring, specifically among the service providers which had the most ground to make up due to early pandemic losses. However, a tight labor supply remains an obstacle for continued growth in consumer-facing industries.”

This morning (8:30 a.m. ET), the Labor Department releases its weekly Initial Claims report—last week, Labor reported initial claims for unemployment insurance fell to their lowest level since 1969.

And on Friday, BLS releases its monthly Employment Situation report for March data; last month, BLS reported employers added 678,000 jobs in February. MBA NewsLink will provide coverage of the Friday jobs report in its Monday, Apr.4 edition, with commentary and analysis from MBA Chief Economist Mike Fratantoni.
