Good morning and happy Monday! As we gear up for the upcoming Independence Day holiday, here’s what’s happening this week:
First, Independence Day. MBA offices will be closed next Monday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. MBA NewsLink will not publish that day. On behalf of MBA officers and staff, have a safe and happy holiday!
Second, MBA Reports. MBA releases its Weekly Applications Survey this Wednesday, June 29, with commentary and analysis from MBA Associate Vice President of Economic and Industry Forecasting Joel Kan.

Fourth, Congress. Ahead of the Independence Day recess, the House Financial Services Committee has a busy week, with three hearings of interest.
On Tuesday, June 28, the Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations holds a virtual hearing, Where Have All the Houses Gone? Private Equity, Single Family Rentals and America’s Neighborhoods. The hearing begins at noon ET and can be accessed online here.
On Wednesday, June 29, full Financial Services Committee holds a virtual hearing on Boom and Bust: Inequality, Homeownership and the Long-Term Impacts of the Hot Housing Market. The hearing begins at noon ET and can be accessed online here.
