The Week Ahead Jan. 10, 2022: Six Things to Know

Second, MBA Reports. MBA releases its monthly Mortgage Credit Availability Index this Tuesday, Jan. 11; MBA Associate Vice President of Economic and Industry Forecasting Joel Kan will provide analysis and commentary.
MBA also releases its Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey this Wednesday, Jan. 12, with Kan providing commentary and analysis.

Fourth, Congress. The House joins the Senate this week in officially getting down to the business of the second session of the 117th Congress.
Focus this week in the Senate is on the Federal Reserve. The Senate Banking Committee meets this week to consider the Biden Administration’s nominations of Jerome Powell to serve a second term as Fed Chair and Lael Brainard as Fed Vice Chair.
Powell’s hearing takes place this Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 10:00 a.m. ET in Dirksen Senate Office Building Room 106; the hearing can be accessed online here.
