Former MBA Chair Brian Stoffers, CMB, Announces Retirement

Brian Stoffers, CMB, Global President of Debt and Structured Finance with CBRE and former Chair of the Mortgage Bankers Association, announced plans to retire next year.

Stoffers oversees CBRE’s global debt and structured finance practice. Under his leadership, more than 220 professionals originated nearly $90 billion worldwide last year with 400 different lenders. Loan sizes ranged from less than $1 million to $1 billion plus. Additionally, this practice maintains a loan services portfolio of over $270 billion globally.

Stoffers said he will retire from CBRE on March 31, 2023. He will remain with the firm as a consultant through year-end 2023.

CBRE announced Rachel Vinson, U.S. President of Debt and Structured Finance, will take over much of Stoffers’ portfolio.

Stoffers served as MBA Chairman for the 2020 fiscal year. He has been active with MBA for more than two decades and is a member of its Board of Directors. He has served on the association’s Affordable Rental Housing Task Force, GSE Multifamily Task Force and Risk Retention Task Force. He received MBA’s Commercial/Multifamily Distinguished Service Award in 2015, chaired the MBA’s Diversity and Inclusion committee and serves on the board of the MBA Opens Doors Foundation, which helps vulnerable families with critically ill or injured children stay in their homes while a child is in treatment.

Stoffers earned a Bachelor of Arts at California State University, Fullerton and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from San Diego State University.
