The Week Ahead, Apr. 4, 2022: 6 Things to Know

Good morning and happy Monday! Here’s what’s happening in the real estate finance world this week:

Second, the All-New MBA.org. On Friday, MBA launched its new, improved website, mba.org: Improvements include:

•           New navigation created with input from you, our members

•           Improved search and filtering capabilities across the site – to help members find exactly what they are looking for, quickly

Third, MBA Reports. The MBA Weekly Applications Survey comes out this Wednesday (8:00 a.m. ET), with commentary and analysis from MBA Associate Vice President of Economic and Industry Forecasting Joel Kan. With interest rates approaching 5 percent, Wednesday’s report is a must-read.

Also this Thursday, Apr. 7, MBA releases its monthly Mortgage Credit Availability Index, with analysis and commentary from Kan.

Fifth, Congress. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen visits the House Financial Services Committee this Wednesday, Apr. 6, to deliver the Annual Testimony of the Secretary of the Treasury on the State of the International Financial System.

The hearing begins at 10:00 a.m. ET in Rayburn House Office Building room 2128 and can be accessed online here.

Also this week, the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations holds a hearing on An Enduring Legacy: The Role of Financial Institutions in the Horrors of Slavery and the Need for Atonement. The hearing takes place Tuesday, Apr. 5 at 2:00 p.m. ET in 2128 Rayburn and can be accessed online here.

On the Senate side, the Senate Banking Committee holds a hearing on Wednesday, Apr. 6 to consider two Treasury Department nominees: Ventris Gibson to be Director of the U.S. Mint; and Paul Rosen as Assistant Secretary for Investment Security.
