MISMO President Seth Appleton Receives ‘Rising Star’ Award
MISMO®, the real estate finance industry standards organization, announced its president, Seth Appleton, was named a HousingWire 2021 Rising Star.
The award highlights leaders under 40 who are shaping and driving the mortgage, real estate and fintech industries forward. HousingWire’s selection committee chose the 2021 Rising Stars based on their professional achievements within their organizations, contributions to the overall housing economy, community outreach, client impact and personal success.
“Blazing a new trail in a year that came with no road map, this year’s winners tapped into their core strengths to not only help their companies navigate the tumultuous year, but set them up for success as they journey into 2021,” said Brena Nath, HW+ managing editor at HousingWire. “We’re honored to present HousingWire’s 2021 Class of Rising Stars and their remarkable impact in the industry.”
Appleton became MISMO’s first full-time President in December 2020. Under his leadership, MISMO is focused on creating and delivering key mortgage industry solutions: digital mortgages, next generation technologies, data interoperability, servicing transfer best practices and more.
Appleton previous served as Assistant Secretary for Policy Development and Research with HUD and also served as Principal Executive Vice President of Ginnie Mae, where he oversaw efforts to attract record capital to support affordable homeownership and rental housing opportunities for millions of American households and advanced key modernization initiatives. Previous roles include Chief of Staff for Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-Mo., a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee and former Chairman of the Housing and Insurance Subcommittee and Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee.
