The Willis Bryant Award recognizes outstanding academic achievement in the three courses of MBA Education’s School of Mortgage Banking and is awarded to the top student graduate at each offering of SOMB Course III. To qualify, a student must achieve a grade of “excellent” on all SOMB exams and demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities in both the classroom and when interacting with other students.

“The Willis Bryant Award recognizes a student who has become a leader within MBA Educational courses and strives for excellence, and Frederico embodies those attributes,” said David Upbin, MBA Vice President of Education Operations and Programming and MBA Strategy. “I am honored to see Frederico win this award, and I look forward to seeing his career progress within our industry.”

Currently, Pereira serves as Senior Audit Director for Freddie Mac. In this role, he is responsible for the audit work associated with how Freddie Mac purchases single-family mortgages. Additionally, Pereira has implemented procedures to improve Freddie Mac’s single-family operations and credit risk management practices. Prior to his new role, he served as an IT auditor; in this position, Pereira helped identify areas of risks in the company.

The award is named after Willis R. Bryant, following his death in 1965. Bryant, a mortgage banking pioneer of the 1950s, was a former lecturer for SOMB who authored Mortgage Lending Fundamentals and Practices, a former SOMB textbook.
